How to Use the Rule of Thirds
How to Use the Rule of Thirds Effortlessly

Picture
Picture
You are going to need a photograph of yourself or someone you know in an EXTREME close up.
The more expression, dynamic, movement your picture is, the more life is in your painting.
Once you have an approved sketch from me, you will need to grid your canvas, however I highly encourage you to draw without a grid to gain a better understanding of proportion and the relationship of negative and positive space.

Essential question: What is color theory?
How will we know if they’ve learned it?
Students will have a finished piece of art that can be considered for various competitions
What will we do if they don’t learn it?
Students will be re-taught and can utilized videos to re-work missing elements of their assignment.
What will we do if they have / have already learned?
Students can always go above and beyond the instructions to create a more challenging experience.
My students understand and can… by the end of the lesson
Students will have a completed painting, understand gridding and color harmonies.
